OA Winter Banquet

This year’s Order of the Arrow Tsali Lodge Winter Banquet was exciting and entertaining. We had our very own nationally acclaimed Drum and Dance Team give us a unique performance. This event was located at Swannanoa’s old 4H Camp that is now owned by Black Mountain Home, which was perfect for this event! It gave it that old rustic Winter feeling. J We also honored some well deserving members for the great achievements they have done within the lodge and the community. If you missed the excitement, here are some pictures of some of the event. Please make sure to promote the OA to your units and I hope to see you are our next event in the spring!

#GivingTuesday
________________________________________________________________________________

This is the global day of giving. So I thought it would be fitting to remind you to give to our future. There are many ways to give your gift- through time, money, goods, services, and your voice. Each of these are equally valuable to our Scouting movement. The youth that we work with today will soon become leaders of our tomorrow. There are several different exciting programs that could be benefitted by your gift.

The Boy Scouts of America reaches both boys and girls of different ages though a variety of programs and pilot programs. It is great to see this organization thrive for well over 100 years. This is all thanks to those who gave their gift of time, money, and service.

Most of you probably have heard of Cub Scouts (1st-5th grade) and Boy Scouts (11yrs-18yrs). However, many people may not know about Venturing, a co-ed program (14yrs-20yrs) that’s basis is high adventure but it can be formed into other themes with the focus on leadership, citizenship, and positive development. For those of you who love the water, Sea Scouts would be for you. This teaches leadership and teamwork while on the water. This program is co-ed for youth 14yrs-20yrs of age. Exploring is also co-ed (14yrs-20yrs) and is designed for youth to explore their career of choice and get experience. This way they know what path they want to take. Exploring Club is for middle schoolers (10yrs-13yrs) who want to learn more about what different kind of careers paths are out there.

As some of you know we in the Daniel Boone Council have a few packs piloting the Lions program, which is for kindergarteners. With over 60 Lion Scouts, we are excited to offer this program to our youth!

If you choose to give though donation, please make it out to Daniel Boone Council with #GivingTuesday in the memo- 333 West Haywood St. Asheville, NC 28801

So please join me in giving back in whatever way possible. Let’s give back to our future… however, not like the movie. I say it this way so it sticks with you:

Don’t forget to remember to give back to our future!

Who had a “Blast” at
Shooting Sports Day!?!!
________________________________________________________________________________

What a fun day we had at the Edneyville Justice Academy! We had several of the new Scouts that joined this year come out and learn how to shoot BB guns and Archery as well as played some exciting games. Thank you all how attended and all the volunteers who helped make this possible. J

I also want to send a big shout out to a Scout in particular. I may not know your name but I saw your actions and I was very impressed. This young boy allowed a fellow Scout, that he did not know, skip ahead of him in line because he had not had an opportunity to shoot yet. He was not told or asked to do so by an adult, he came up with it on his own. Thank you for being so kind and courteous to others. I can see that you are living the Scout law.
